Hello and welcome to Not 4 Nothin! I started this biweekly blog in 2017 as a way to provide insight, detail, and commentary about politics and elections.
My goal is for N4N to be a (mostly) nonpartisan analysis of political news – and most importantly – the effect said news will have on upcoming elections.
Too often, the media focuses on political news from 30,000 feet, neglecting the nitty gritty of how one event can shape a specific election. Using Not 4 Nothin, I plan to discuss issues that I feel don’t get the attention they deserve.
One thing I want to make clear is that my analysis, while drawing inspiration from polls and experience, will not be entirely reliant on numbers. There are people who do an incredible job sifting through equations to make political predictions, and I could never come close to matching their expertise.
For me, the stories behind the numbers are just as telling – and they can provide additional insight into where our political system is, and where it might be heading. Sometimes, these posts will focus on national politics, and sometimes we’ll focus on races at the state and local levels, it will all depend on what is making headlines and what trends are becoming clear.
I’ve been working in and around politics for almost a decade, and I hope that you have as much fun reading these posts as I do writing them!
